The ITM submits policy papers to national, regional and local consultations, writes discussion papers and conducts research. The ITM also works in partnership with other research institutions to initiate and secure funding for research that will lead to policy change.

The ITM is a member of the Traveller Law Reform Project – an umbrella group of national and regional organisations such as the ITM, Gypsy Council, Friends Families and Travellers, Gypsy and Traveller Affairs and the London Gypsy and Traveller Unit who have come together to lobby central government to achieve positive change for Gypsies, Irish Travellers and New Travellers. This is the ideal policy formulation process time limits and the need to produce shorter policy statements/briefings etc may not always enable this path to be followed. However, any such papers will be jointly signed off by the ITM Director and ITM National Policy Officer. The outlined path in the above diagram will provide opportunities to strengthen relationships with stakeholders/affiliates.
