Day 1 - Opening Event

12 – 1.30 pm:  Welcome – Yvonne MacNamara and Breda Mahoney ITMB - Event officially opened by Irish Ambassador - Julie Morgan MP – ‘Traveller Campaigners and advocates’ - Helena Kiely – Launch and screening of ITMB DVD ‘Meet Your Neighbours: Irish Traveller Role Models Speak Out’ –

 

Music, stalls, games, film, talent show and story telling throughout the day

 

Day 2 - Conference: ‘Into the Future’ Where Next for Irish Travellers.
Speakers include:

 

  • Chair - Dr Kevin McNamara (former MP/Northern Ireland Spokesman)
  • Andy Slaughter MP Hammersmith and Fulham
  • Helena Kiely – Irish Traveller Youth Worker
  • Breda Doran - The Cambridgeshire Race Equality & Diversity Service
  • Lord Alf Dubs – All Party Parliamentary Group Traveller Law Reform

 

Workshops will also be held on site design and management, policies to deliver sites and Traveller culture.

Advice surgery

 
The Irish Traveller Movement in Britain is developing an advice surgery to help Irish
Travellers and their support groups. Staff will be available to give advice on:
 
Securing funding for small groups
Developing organisations.
Organising local campaigns
